Taylor Swift appears to have found another designer she can rely on for a memorable night out. During a recent birthday dinner with Travis Kelce in New York City, the singer returned to Simkhai, wearing her second look from the Los Angeles-based label in only three days.
For dinner at Torrisi in SoHo, where the couple celebrated Kelce’s 37th birthday, Swift chose the black Zinnia Midi dress. The sleeveless cashmere design featured a flattering V-neck and delicate floral lace along the hem, giving the classic little black dress a softer and more romantic finish.
Rather than styling the dress as a traditional evening look, Swift added an oversized black leather Saint Laurent jacket. Worn open, the jacket allowed the lace neckline and feminine shape of the dress to remain visible, creating a contrast between delicate detailing and a tougher leather layer.
She kept the rest of the outfit within the same dark palette, finishing the look with black strappy Jimmy Choo sandals and a Givenchy Voyou bucket bag. The result was understated but polished, with enough texture and contrast to make a simple black outfit feel distinctly modern.
Kelce took a similarly sophisticated approach, wearing a dark green sweater with charcoal trousers and black leather shoes. The pair were photographed holding hands as they arrived at the restaurant, adding a relaxed touch to what was otherwise a carefully considered date-night appearance.
Swift’s renewed relationship with Simkhai actually began just days earlier. On October 3, she made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live alongside Dakota Johnson during the actor’s opening monologue. She later returned toward the end of the episode with a birthday cake, making the evening even more memorable.
For the television appearance, Swift wore another Simkhai creation, this time choosing a plaid minidress styled with tall Burberry leather boots, a Saint Laurent chain belt, and a Cartier bracelet. The look had a distinctly autumnal feel and demonstrated a very different side of the brand from the sleek black dress she wore for her dinner with Kelce.
Two appearances from the same designer within three days may seem unusual for Swift, whose wardrobe frequently moves between established fashion houses and newer labels. But Simkhai is hardly unfamiliar territory for the singer. She has worn the brand on several occasions, including outings with Kelce dating back to 2024.
The latest appearance also fits into Swift’s growing preference for black eveningwear. At the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, she paired a sheer black Tamara Ralph corset with a shimmering silver skirt. Earlier in the year, at her Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, she chose a dramatic black floral Givenchy gown.
What makes the Simkhai looks stand out is their relative simplicity. Neither outfit relies on excessive embellishment or an elaborate silhouette. Instead, Swift allows strong fabrics, thoughtful layering, and carefully selected accessories to create the impact.
For her latest date night, the formula was particularly effective: a classic black dress, a statement leather jacket, delicate lace, and a few well-chosen accessories. It is a reminder that Swift’s most successful off-duty looks often come from knowing exactly which pieces to repeat and when to give them a new personality.
